Bone Tissue Engineering for Dentistry and Orthopaedics

Description

Tissue engineering has emerged as a promising approach for bone repair and regeneration, especially in the field of dentistry and orthopaedics. The fundamental concept of bone tissue engineering is to combine progenitor cells or stem cells with biocompatible scaffolds under the influence of growth factors to trigger the endogenous biological regenerative capacity for tissue repair and regeneration in order to restore functional bone structures.

We invite authors to contribute with original research as well as review papers that will stimulate excellence in bone and mineral tissue research and promote the integration of clinical and basic science. We are interested in papers that explore the biochemical, biophysical, molecular, and clinical aspects of the structure, function, and regeneration of bone and other mineralized tissues. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Understanding of skeletal modelling and remodelling
  • Recent development and testing of biomaterials in the application of bone tissue engineering
  • Advances in cell-based therapy
  • Identification of novel biomarkers
  • New cellular and animal models to test and understand the process of bone tissue regeneration
  • Identifying mechanisms
  • Latest technologies for clinical evaluation and measuring outcomes

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/bmri/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/bmri/tissue .engineering/tend/ according to the following timetable:
