Strengthening Sports and Health Monitoring and Evaluation Systems
Description
Sports and health sciences are closely linked disciplines but can also be considered contrasting fields of research at the same time. Sports science applies the study of science to sporting activities. The focus of sports science is to help maximize body performance and push to the extremes of its ability, while, health science is the application of science to health including the study of medicine, nutrition, and other health-related topics, and strives to diagnose various ailments and attempts to return the body to normality. Although it seems from the basic definitions these two disciplines are not related, sports and health sciences are more closely linked in research focusing on prevention; however, these disciplines approach issues from two different perspectives. Nevertheless, both require a close study of the functions of the body, whether by concentrating on vital signs such as breathing and heart rate or by the movement and function of muscles and joints. Therefore, sports and health sciences use different variables to provide detailed information that no individual variable can provide separately. A large quantity of research confirms that in addition to maximizing body performance and diagnosing potential ailments, it is necessary to set up continuous monitoring of the body to help develop advanced strategies for maintaining health and maximum human performance. This is especially important in the school environment, but also in community-based and sports settings.
The aim of this Special Issue is to provide an opportunity to publish high-quality orginal research and review papers relating to strengthening sport and health monitoring and evaluation systems. We welcome novel intervention research in school, community-based, or sports settings to promote sport and health monitoring and evaluation systems. In addition, papers investigating any kind of sport and health protocols from the school environment, community-based, and sports settings are also welcome, including discussion of future perspectives, challenges, concepts, and necessities.
Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
- Future perspectives of Sports and Health Monitoring and Evaluation Systems in School Environments
- Challenges of Sports and Health Monitoring and Evaluation Systems in School Environments
- Concepts of Sports and Health Monitoring and Evaluation Systems in School Environments
- Necessities of Sports and Health Monitoring and Evaluation Systems in School Environments
- Strengthening Sports and Health Monitoring and Evaluation Systems in an Out-of-School Environments
