Pediatric Nephrology: Highlights for the General Practitioner

Description

Pediatric nephrology is a continually evolving field. Pediatric nephrologists often encourage primary care providers to actively engage in the management of children with kidney disease. Like many other subspecialties, pediatric nephrology has its unique clinical features that sometimes are elusive to the general practitioner. The purpose of this issue is to familiarize the pediatrician and other primary care providers with renal disease commonly encountered in their practice. Management guidelines will also be provided to help practitioners better care for these children. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Presentation of child with renal disease and guidelines for referral to the specialist
  • Highlights for the management of a child with proteinuria and hematuria
  • Highlights for the management of a child with urinary tract infection
  • Highlights for the management of a child with hypertension
  • Highlights for the management of a child with chronic kidney disease
  • Highlights for the management of a child on dialysis
  • What do I need to know about a child with kidney transplant?

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ijped/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
