Industrial Compressor

Description

Papers are invited that address design and operational aspect of industrial compressors used in refineries, petrochemical plants, fertilizer plants, steel mills, air separation plants, refrigeration systems, and natural gas stations. Specific industrial compressors of interest are compressors used for low- and medium-pressure services in ethylene plants, lube oil plants, refineries, refrigeration, air compression, and so forth; compressors used for high-pressure services such as ammonia, urea, and methanol synthesis, refinery recycle, natural gas compression and injection; pipeline compressors used for low- and medium-pressure ratio wide range of applications and in some recycle services such as in methanol plants and ethylene oxide plants; integrally geared packaged compressors with high pressure per stage for heavy duty air and gas services; gas compressors for aerospace and/or aircraft engine applications. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Innovative compressor concepts/designs
  • Advanced and unique experimental testing facilities
  • Utilizing high-speed direct centrifugal compressor with magnetic bearing in compact and efficient refrigeration cycles
  • CFD-based programs for the optimization of a centrifugal impeller
  • CFD-based programs for the optimization of a volute designs
  • Very low- and very high-flow coefficient impellers development
  • Design methods for low solidity, variable geometry, and other advanced vaned diffusers
  • Application and validation of CFD in a centrifugal design system
  • CFD-derived slip and blockage factors for analyzing centrifugal impeller performance
  • New and advanced measurement methods for compressor flows
  • Oil-free high-speed centrifugal compressor with foil gas bearings with integral PM drive motors
  • Hydrogen pipeline compressors used for low- and medium-pressure ratio to be used for the infrastructure of hydrogen pipeline, transportation, and others
  • Air cycle machine for the pressurization of aircraft cabins (oil-free centrifugal compressors, driven with integral turbine)
