Management of liver tumours continues to evolve with advances in diagnostic modalities, scoring systems, and surgical and nonsurgical techniques, along with the improvement in clinical care provided to these patients. Primary liver tumours, especially in those with cirrhosis, have a wide spectrum of presentation starting from incidental detection of small lesions on screening to advanced presentations with extrahepatic disease. The management algorithm is changing with the introduction of newer methods of treatment. The role of liver resection, primary and salvage liver transplantation, living and deceased donor liver transplants, ablative procedures, external beam radiotherapy, transarterial chemoembolization, and immunotherapy are some of the modalities which have been introduced and have undergone methodological changes together with the indications for their use. It is very important that there is a consensus in management protocols for liver tumours so that the management in each individual case is guided according to the current evidence available. The treatment algorithm also needs to have a place for high risk patients who cannot be offered surgery as the primary modality and should suggest the next best option. Role of stereotactic body radiation therapy needs to be defined and should be included in any treatment algorithm. The challenge in the management of these patients is to use the right modality of treatment for the right patient.

To publish original articles in the field of management of liver tumours in adults, we aim to invite authors who have experience in the surgical management of these tumours. We will discuss the role of staged hepatectomy and liver transplantation (both primary and salvage) in patients with large tumours and recurrences.
