Pathology of Breast Carcinoma: Diagnostic, Prognostic, and Therapeutic Issues and Challenges

Description

Morphologic classification of breast carcinoma used for past several decades showed that breast carcinoma is a heterogeneous disease. Recent immunohistochemical and molecular evidences support the heterogeneity within breast carcinoma. The recent molecular studies have further improved our understanding of breast carcinoma, and the search for additional prognostic and predictive markers continues to be an active area of investigation. The personalized management of breast carcinoma includes not only development of effective and targeted therapy but also a thorough understanding of breast cancer pathobiology.

We invite authors to submit original research and review articles that help improve the accuracy of breast cancer diagnosis and deal with examination of prognostic and predictive markers. We are also interested in research articles on breast cancer genomics/proteomics and its interaction with tumor tissue microenvironment and host response.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Breast carcinoma diagnosis on core biopsy: diagnostic issues and pitfalls
  • Evolving role of cytologic techniques/procedures in breast carcinoma diagnostics
  • Issues related to sentinel lymph node assessment
  • Issues related to current biomarker testing in breast carcinoma
  • Novel prognostic and predictive markers in breast carcinoma
  • Novel method or techniques for risk prediction in breast carcinoma
  • All aspects of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast carcinoma
  • Stem cells and breast carcinoma

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/pri/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
