Institutional Memberships

Hindawi publishes more than 100 Open Access journals covering a wide range of areas in science, technology, and medicine. When publishing in any Hindawi journals, authors retain the copyright of their articles, which are freely distributed under the “Creative Common Attribution License,” permitting the unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction of the article in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. In order to cover the costs of the publishing operation, Hindawi journals require “Article Processing Charges” for all accepted manuscripts.

The full list of Hindawi journals, along with their corresponding Article Processing Charges, is available here. There are no additional fees or taxes for any authors worldwide. These charges apply only to peer reviewed contributions (e.g., research articles, review articles, clinical studies) while other contributions (e.g., editorials, errata) are published free of charge.

Hindawi offers “Institutional Memberships” to organizations that would like to encourage and enable their authors to publish their research in an Open Access journal. “Hindawi Institutional Membership” program is based on a flat rate payment that covers all accepted articles that have one or more authors from any of Hindawi's member institutes. The cost of the membership depends on the research output level of the institute and the historical publishing pattern in Hindawi journals. Hindawi will provide a quotation upon request to any interested institute.

By joining this Institutional Membership program, organizations can enable their authors to publish in Hindawi Open Access journals without having to administer and pay “Article Processing Charges” from their individual research budget. The flat rate system enables the member institute to know their cost for the next 12 months regardless of the number of articles that may be submitted or accepted for publication in any of Hindawi's journals. Hindawi will provide a new quotation for membership renewal at about three months prior to the expiration of the current membership. Membership periods may be synchronized with the calendar or fiscal year at the member institute by prorating its cost for a fraction of a year, if so desired by the member institute.

Hindawi's web site contains institutional web pages listing all articles in Hindawi's journals that originated at different institutions, which can be used both as a showcase of the institutes research published in Hindawi's journals and as a report of the use of the “Institutional Membership” by authors at the member institute.
